Bangkok--20 Sep--Pro Media PR
Quartz Business Media Limited, the world-famous international exhibition organizer from the United Kingdom (UK) and the publisher of numerous specialized publication has unveiled the first-ever Chemspec Asia in the ASEAN region in 2013, underlining the path of Thailand to become ASEAN exhibition venue for chemical industry.
Chemspec Asia 2013, slated on September 19-21, 2013, will be the premier international chemical trade exhibition that provides a genuine platform for networking among raw material manufacturers, distributors, sale agents and leading technology providers from numerous countries and over 200 top companies around the globe. This three-day event is expected to welcome over 5,000 visitors from Thailand and overseas.
Mr. Steve Diprose, Vice President of Quartz Business Media, said new events usually start relatively modestly but with the right co-operation and management, Chemspec Asia has the potential to grow into an important industry event where people congregate and exchange ideas and trade across borders on an annual basis like in India where Chemspec India started modestly in Hyderabad in 2005 and now is an annual event attracting 250 exhibitors and 10,000 attendees from 30 different countries.
Thailand’s chemical industry is the largest in Southeast Asia, with exports of 165 billion baht and imports of 481 billion baht, making it an attractive destination for investors, he added.
Phayungsak Chartsuthipol, Chairman of Federal of Thai Industries, said it is well recognized that chemical industry is the supporting industry to the development of Thai industries for a long time. In each year, Thailand imports upstream, intermediate and downstream chemical products worth almost 500 billion baht. The products are used in diverse industries whether it is petrochemical, textile, cosmetic, plastic, pharmaceutical, agriculture and others.
As international trading system is moving towards free trade system, in which barrier to trade is no longer the tariff, but non- tariff measures, Thai chemical industries have to operate business by complying to required standards. They should move towards the green manufacturing to reduce the impacts to the environment and all stake holders.
Ms. Supawan Teerarat, Vice President Statistic and Business Development, Thailand Conference and Exhibition Bureau (TECB) said, as the government agency with the primary commitment to support, promote and develop the Thai exhibition industry to compete effectively and efficiently at international level. TCEB has the determination to push Thailand as the regional hub of international exhibition in ASEAN Economic Community or AEC. It is projected that Thai international exhibition industry will grow by 15-20% with the potential to grow as high as 30% or the number of MICE visitors at 545,000, generating income of 1.55 billion baht in 2015, or the year that the AEC will begin.
The bureau will also support Chemspec Asia 2013 with campaigns to attract buyers across the globe to visit the show through a Buyer Appreciation Program and drawing fair visitors though the “100 A-HEAD” campaign and BE MY GUEST.
