THAI Holds Cocktail Reception to Celebrate Its Inaugural Flight to Sendai, Japan

Bangkok--31 Oct--Thai Airways International Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) held a cocktail reception to celebrate the introduction of new flights to Sendai, Japan at The Westin Sendai. Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, Sendai city mayor, delegates from prefectures in Tohoku region and concerning organizations, business sector representatives, guests of honor, and members of the press attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, said Japan has long been THAI's high potential market thanks to its popularity amongst Thai tourists, with a continually rising growth rate, as the Japanese Government has waived visas for Thai nationals. THAI's new flights to Sendai serve as an economic gateway that will generate longstanding development in the Tohoku region, which not only supports regional trade and tourism but also encourages an exchange of knowledge and good relations between Japan and Thailand. This also supports government trade and investment policies. Therefore, the Tohoku region views THAI as not merely an airline but as the representative of Thailand that can usher development into the region. THAI's Bangkok-Sendai flights have 80% advance bookings through to March 2020. THAI operated its Bangkok-Sendai inaugural flight on 29 October 2019 and Sendai-Bangkok inaugural flight on 30 October 2019 with Boeing 777-300 aircraft, royally bestowed the name "Lahan Sai," which has 364 seats: 34 seats in Royal Silk Class and 330 seats in Economy Class. THAI received permission to paint the aircraft in Suphannahong Royal Barge livery with the Royal Emblem in Commemoration of the Royal Coronation Ceremony. THAI operates three weekly flights to Sendai, as follows; - Flight TG626, Bangkok-Sendai, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday departs Bangkok at 23.59 hours and arrives in Sendai at 7.40 hours (local time) on the next day. - Flight TG627, Sendai-Bangkok, on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday departs Sendai at 11.15 hours (local time) and arrive in Bangkok at 16.05 hours.
