Thai Products a Big Hit in Alibaba’s 2019 11.11 Global Shopping Festival

Bangkok--25 Nov--124 Communications Consulting In Alibaba's 11.11 Global Shopping Festival this year, Thai products proved to be a big hit among Chinese consumers as Thailand ranked 13th among all import markets selling cross-border to China in terms of gross merchandise volume (GMV) – the best performance among Southeast Asian markets. GMV generated by Thai products also recorded an impressive year-on-year growth of 46% during the sale, which demonstrates their growing appeal to Chinese consumers. The encouraging result was partly attributed to sustained efforts by Alibaba Group to increase brand awareness for Thai products in China, including doubling the number of Thai brands introduced on Tmall Global in the past year compared with the previous year to satisfy Chinese consumers' appetite for health, beauty, personal care and other much sought-after products from Thailand. Tmall Global is an extension of Alibaba's B2C e-commerce platform Tmall, which showcases overseas brands and merchants. Lip Makeup This year, Alibaba's 11.11 hit a new record of RMB268.4 billion (around THB 1150.32 billion) in GMV settled through Alipay on November 11, 2019, representing an increase of 26% compared to the 2018 edition of the event. Cross-border shopping was a core part of the online shopping extravaganza, as more than 22,000 international brands from 78 countries and regions – including Thailand – participated in this year's 11.11 on Tmall Global.
