As the holidays approach, Samui's favourite sunset-side resort is gearing up for tropical festivities, while its acclaimed eateries enjoy a healthy overhaul. Set on the tranquil southeast coast, Avani+ Samui welcomes guests and revelers for a packed programme of festive activities, and everyone is invited to the barefoot, boho island party.
Christmas Eve kicks off the celebrations in style with a four-course beachside banquet and a Christmassy soundtrack courtesy of a children's choir and live saxophonist. Dinner starts at 7:00 pm, priced at THB 1,700++ per adult including a glass of bubbly and kids eat free.
New Year's Eve promises fabulous food, drinks and fun with guests decked out in a dress code of freshest whites. A delicious dinner is accompanied with live music and as the evening heats up, there's entertainment from fire spinners and party tunes to get everyone on the dancefloor. At midnight, fireworks welcome the arrival of 2020. The fun begins at 7:30 pm and tickets are THB 4,999++ per adult including a welcome cocktail and THB 2,499++ for kids.
Both events take place at Essence, a beachside eatery gathering a reputation around the island and beyond for its healthy, hearty cuisine based on fresh ingredients. Meanwhile, the resort's lobby cafe, Pantry looks forward to a plant-based revamp in the New Year. Riffing on Essence's philosophy of locally sourced products designed to promote well-being, Pantry's new concept leans heavily on natural, nutritious ingredients.
The new menu will feature acai and salad bowls, sandwiches and energy balls, all made from all plant-based ingredients. The coffee will be sourced from Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, where it is organically grown, and lattes, cappuccinos and macchiatos will be served with a selection of almond, soy or coconut milk.
