The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Foundation, together with the Association of Football History of Thailand (AFHT), has recently presented the annual Good Deeds Commendation awards - sports promotion category to Dr. Song Vongvanich, Pronchai Mangprasit and Soonthorn Namuangrak for their dedications in devoting time and personal funding to provide opportunities in football (soccer) for the youth, being a role model while making social impact to the Thai society.
SET Foundation's Board Member and Treasurer Krisada Sektrakul said that on February 15, SET Foundation presented the 2019 Good Deeds Commendation awards– sports promotion category to 3 football supporter and coaches. The first one is Doctor Song Vongvanich, dubbed as "Port Godfather", who was one of the early founders of Thailand's Port Football Club, being recognized for his dedication to consistently support the training of youth players from rural areas and Klongtoey community in Bangkok as well as grooming at least 100 youngsters to become Thailand's national football team players. The second one is former national football player Pornchai Mangprasit, dubbed as "Hands-on Coacher", a health and physical education teacher at Thetsaban 1, Wat Phra Ngam School (Samakkee Pittaya) in Nakorn Pathom province, dedicating his free time to train the less fortunate footballers in the urban and suburban areas with more than 50 talented footballers becoming national football players. The third one is Soonthorn Namuangrak, dubbed as "Klong Chao Coach", an entrepreneur in Pathumthani province, having set up the Kalasin youth league tournament, trained this sport for youths facing family problems, and organized the train-the-trainer programs for football-related personnel without charging any fee.
AFHT President Vichit Yamboonrueng said that the SET Foundation's continuous support for 13 consecutive years has greatly enhanced the development of the Thai football industry. It has made the dream of the young footballers come true with the engagement and coaching from former national football players in providing skill training for youths nationwide, paving their way to become professional football players. The "Lt Gen. Samreng Chaiyong" awards granted to these three volunteer and coaches for their dedication to create opportunity in football for the youths will be an inspiration and will further help the youth to spend their time wisely, to grow up to become good citizens, while helping to strengthen the society and the country. AFHT will continue to enhance the Thai football industry and the society.
SET Foundation's annual Good Deeds Commendation awards support and recognize organizations and individuals who dedicate their efforts to enhance the society in seven areas: music encouragement, sports promotion, urban development, rural development, preventing and solving drug problems in the community and society, library development, and education development.
