It reflects the trend of organic food consumption for this decade.

RA Prof. Dr. Matthias Horst, Executive Director of the Federal Association of the German Food Industry (BVE), said that Thailand is among the world’s top ten producers of agricultural products, and it is the only net exporter of foodstuffs in Asia. The most important Thai exports are rice (25 %), preserved seafood (22 %), processed fruit and vegetables (11 %), coconut and palm oil (15 %), meat products (9 %) and dairy products (5 %). Thai foods worth a total of 298.5 million EURO were exported to Germany alone in 2006. Demand was particularly high in Germany for Thai fish and fish products (84.7 million EURO), meat and meat products (52.1 million EURO), processed fruit (49.5 million EURO) and rice (21.7 million EURO).
Mr.Dierk Frauen, President of the Federal Association of the German Retail Grocery Trade, Berlin (BVL) said that a completely different set of factors, is contributing to the booming market for organic products in many EU countries. What began as a niche segment for health-.conscious and alternative consumers has now become a highly dynamic area of growth. The largest growth markets for organic products in the EU are Germany (where turnover in the organic segment climbed by 90 percent to 4 billion EURO between 2000 and 2005), the UK and Sweden. Experts predict that the turnover generated by organic food will double here in the next five years. The segment is becoming increasingly professional, as demonstrated by the rising number of organic supermarkets that are generating additional momentum. Demand for organic products is currently outstripping supply in many EU countries, which means the food retail trade is having to rely more heavily on imported items. What’s more, the rediscovery of regional products (including those with protected names) and the increasing popularity of ethnic and exotic food are concurrent processes that food traders will have to react to.
The ‘ANUGA’ is first held in 1924 by Koelnmesse GmbH in Germany and The Federal Association of the German Retail Grocery Trade (BVL), Berlin, which acknowledged by The Federal Association of the German Food Industry (BVE). German Hotel and Restaurant Association also support this event. Expolink Global Network Ltd. is an official representative of Koelnmesse GmbH in Thailand.
