Bangkok--3 Jul--SET More than 1,700 local people enjoyed the Money Channel Road Show held in Chiang Mai on June 30. This was the highest road show attendance to date and reflects a huge demand for savings and investment news and information. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is confident that this success will be repeated at the Udon Thani event in August. “SET will continue these activities in response to the strong popular demand for financial advice and information, and to expand the investor base. To consolidate a firm foundation for a savings and investment culture, the Exchange hosted an internet trading simulation the day after the Chiang Mai road show, and then launched a financial information center on the next day,” SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said. People flocked to all the seminars and the stock and mutual fund promotions. There were also many applicants for the stock and derivatives trading competitions. A feature of the road show was the opportunity for participants to donate THB 40 to the local Baan Kingkaew Orphanage and receive a booklet compliments of SET. Total funds from the booklet campaign and other donations was around THB 40,000. “In addition to conventional investor education, SET would like to increase people’s awareness of, and connection with, local businesses to develop a sense of ownership. This will be a focus of the next Money Channel Road Show, which will promote listed companies from the host province,” Ms. Patareeya said.
