Being partners does not require much thought, while marriage has become easier than ever. It is not built to last, and can be easily destroyed by one of the three popular choices: infidelity, separation or divorce. It happens everyday, as if nobody really cares about the phrase “Till death do us part” anymore. This way of life leads to a very common question: “What is a definition of ‘love’ of the people in this era?” Is it a journey that two people take into eternity, just a game of sex and deception that two people compete against each other, or one of the tactics one can use to get what he or she wants? This performance aims to explore all these questions, and then turn to ask the audience if their love and relationship values are really the way they should be. Is it time to make some changes in our way of life? “Gon-Rak Game-Love” is translated and adapted from “La Ronde” or “Die Reigen” by Arthur Schnitzler, an Austrian playwright. The play features relationship strategies of the people in the modern world, through 10 stirring scenes and 10 fascinating characters. Each scene tells a story of two people in a city, before and after their affair, which is connected to the stories that follows. This allows an audience to observe the superficiality in all relationships nowadays. Although there is a very serious issue in the play, it will be presented as a “black comedy with some erotic undertone”, which means that it aims to satisfyingly uncover the real sexual habits and relationships of the modern people with humor and straightforwardness. The scene will be in Postmodern design, which emphasize on minimizing the visual elements, while maximizing the curiosity of an audience. The acting in this play is the most challenging task, as it features 10 different scenes, 10 different stories and 10 different characters. Although each story contains 2 characters, but the whole play will be performed by only 4 actors. Each one of them will portray at least 2 chracters, which are very distictive. Given all the reasons above, this is an unmissable opportunity for an audience to experience a creative work, filled with contemporary issues, aesthetic qualities and talented actors. “Gon-Rak Game-Love” is directed by Damkerng Thitapiyasak, a leading theatre practitioner in Thailand, translated by Panrat Kritchanchai. It features professional theatre actors: Pariya Wongrabiab, Kriangkrai Fukasem and Sathika Poksab. Ticket prices: 350 Baht and 200 Baht (for students).
