Bangkok--23 Jul--Aberdeen Asset Management Aberdeen Asset Management Co., Ltd. announced today that its latest FIF, Aberdeen Emerging Opportunities Bond Fund has received overwhelming demand by Thai investors again with its total subscriptions after the closing of IPO of 1.8 billion Baht Robert Penaloza, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management Co., Ltd. said “The demand for our new FIF highlights Thai investors increasing appreciation of emerging markets and confidence in not only our global fund managers but our local office capabilities" Aberdeen Emerging Opportunities Bond Fund invests predominately in the underlying master fund “Aberdeen Global Emerging Markets Bond Fund” registered in Luxembourg and has posted annualised performance over the past five years of 17.66 % . The master fund invests in emerging market government and corporate bonds with the aim to benefit from the high growth potential across global emerging economies. Kate Hathirat, Head of Fixed-Income Fund Thailand, added “The positive outlook of emerging markets’ debt instruments is underscored by the growing interest by global pension funds around the world, may it be Australian or European, where their investment policies are typically conservative and long term." Hathirat added "Increasingly emerging markets are growing in portfolio weightings for global asset allocators and is quickly becoming an important asset class of its own” Aberdeen Asset Management is now in the process of expanding its allocation with SEC to enable further subscription into the new FIF fund. This allocation is determined by the Bank of Thailand and are typically in tranches of US$10m.
