Ratchaburi Holding Announces the Q2/2007 Unreviewed Operating Performance of 2,140 Million Baht

Bangkok--27 Jul--Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL. [SET symbol: RATCH] today announces its unreviewed consolidated operating performance of the Company and subsidiaries for the second quarter of 2007 ended June 30, 2007. The Company recorded net profit of 2,140 million baht or earning per share at 1.48 baht, rising by 681 million baht or 47% of the net profit of 1,459 million baht from the same period in 2006. Mr. Narong Sitasuwan, Managing Director of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL. revealed that in this quarter, the Company has recorded 47% increment in its operating result which mainly derived from the Availability Payment of 3,037 million baht, or 235 million baht higher from the same quarter of 2006. This was due to a higher of Available Payment (AP) average rate as specified in the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the year 2007 compared with the year 2006. In addition, the Company has recently received an insurance claimable of 496 million baht from fire cause at the Flue Gas Desulfurisation unit at Ratchaburi’s Thermal Power Plant Unit 1 on October 13, 2005 from the insurance company. In the second quarter of 2007, the Company has recorded the profit sharing from its joint ventures totaled to 177 million baht, decreasing by 42 million baht from the same period of 2006. This was due to the share of profit from Tri Energy Company Limited (“Tri Energy”) as the Company holds 50% in equity has decreased by 43 million baht compared with the same period in 2006 which resulted from a decreasing in operating income of Tri Energy Power Plant’s shutdown for maintenance amounted 25 million baht and a decreasing in the gain on foreign exchange amounted 18 million baht. Meanwhile, the interest payment for this quarter was 330 million baht, a decrease of 38 million baht when compared with 368 million baht from the second quarter of 2006. This was from the rate of interest payment for the long-term loans and the debentures of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Company Limited had been falling. Moreover, the Company’s interest income of 158 million baht for this quarter has increased by 26 million baht of 132 million baht from the same period of previous year. In this quarter, the Company’s consolidated total revenue was 12,389 million baht, consisted of electricity sales of 11,527 million baht, interest income of 158 million baht, sharing profit of associated and joint-venture companies amounted to 177 million baht, insurance claimable of 496 million baht and other incomes of 31 million baht. The Company’s total costs and expenses were 10,249 million baht, consisted of cost of sales of 9,749 million baht, and selling & administrative expenses of 135 million baht. Meanwhile, the Company’s interest expense and income tax were 365 million baht. For the first half of 2007 unreviewed operating performance, the Company recorded net profit of 4,189 million baht or earning per share at 2.89 baht, increasing by 796 million baht or 23% of the net profit of 3,393 million baht from the same period in 2006. Mr. Narong added that at present the Company’s working capital amounts to 12,022 million baht and its retained earning from business operation accrues to 21,258 million baht reflect to our solid financial position. The Company has prepared its readiness on source of fund, the strategic sites both accessible to the transmission system and natural gas pipeline, as well as existing facilities to be geared up for business expansion.
