Bangkok--7 Aug--ตลท. About 1,200 people from Udon Thani and nearby provinces in Northeastern Thailand flocked to The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s ‘Money Channel Road Show’ on August 4. Buoyed by this enthusiastic response, the Exchange is gearing-up to host the next event in Khon Kaen in November. These road shows are a key part of SET’s investor base expansion strategy, and this was the second one staged in Udon Thani. The large number of participants indicated a strong demand for economic and financial information, SET Executive Vice President Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich said. “Local residents tended to be medium to long-term investors and showed an interest in stocks with good fundamentals and also other instruments such as mutual funds, derivatives, and bonds. Visiting the region was an effective way of updating people on both the current investment situation and planned market developments,” Mr. Vichate added. Highlights included very well-attended seminars, the promotion of online derivatives and stock trading games, the stock and unit trust investors’ corner, and gathering donations for a good course. Visitors to Money Channel Road Show who each gave THB 40 to the Foundation for Udon Thani people fighting against AIDS received a free booklet, compliments of SET. Donations totaling THB 35,000. The Magic Piggy Bank stage play for kids was also very popular.
