Bangkok--9 Aug--CPF CPF reported net profit of 955 MB for Quarter 2, 2007 Return from investments in oversea business as expectedBrighter sky 2007 sales growth forecast 10 % Mr. Adirek Sripatak, president and CEO of Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CPF), informed that CPF performance for Quarter 2, 2007 with net profit of 955 million baht from total sales of 34,749 million baht. CPF’s performance improves from first-quarter of the year due to higher domestic meat prices and better return from oversea operations such as Turkey, Malaysia, India and China. Also broiler export had grown 20 percent from the same period last year. The strengthen in Baht has slightly effected the company’s overall performance since CPF also has ~ 30 percent of Euro and Pound steering trade currencies. Moreover, the company has imported machines for their oversea business expansion which make the cost much cheaper. The company expects sales growth of 10 percent for this year with better second-half performance, due in part of robust growth of its oversea operations, expansion of export market and higher domestic meat prices. The strategy to expand its business to oversea countries is a right decision. The company is still seeking for new potential countries to invest. The operation in Lao has just started and expected to realize its performance next year. The Russian operation is under construction and is expected to start at the beginning of next year. For branded food, CPF will focus on branding and continuous marketing promotion in both domestic and export markets. Currently, the company exports branded products to many countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Europe and USA.
