Bangkok--9 Aug--Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited, as one of the developers of the Xae Pien — Xae Nam Noi Hydro Power Plant in Lao PDR, signed the Joint Development Agreement with SK Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. (SKEC) and the Lao PDR Government. The project will have the production capacity of 372 MW with electricity generation of 1,927 million kWh per year and its investment will be USD 668 million which the Company holds 25 percent stake in equity. Mr. Narong Sitasuwan, Managing Director of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL., stated that on August 6, 2007, the Company signed the Joint Development Agreement with the Korean investors and the Lao PDR. Government to conduct feasibility studies in various parts including the construction preparation and Environmental Impact Assessment and Social Impact Study. Mr. Narong further declared that, from the preliminary study, the project has high potential and will, as per the shareholding ratio, add 93 MW to the Company which is in line with the business plan for investing in power plant outside of Thailand and selling back into the country. The electricity will be transmitted into the lower Northeastern area of the country in order to strengthen the energy security of Thailand.
