Bangkok--3 Sep--Total Quality PR Order of Merit Leader Yang stumbles on first qualifying day of The 2007 Guinness 9 Ball Tour Grand Finals kicked off with two of its youngest stars in Chinese Taipei's Wu Chia-Ching and Chang Jung-Lin leading the pack with two wins apiece in today's preliminary round held at the Grand Hyatt Bali.It was a mixed day for Order of Merit leader Yang Ching-Shun from Chinese Taipei who stumbled with a 8-9 loss to Wu and a 9-6 win over the Philippines' Ronato Alcano in the start of the three-day event. Likewise, Yang's teammate Chao Fong-Pang got off to a shaky start with a similar result, with a narrow 8-9 defeat to Chang and a 9-1 victory over Filipino Lee Van Corteza. The favourites from the Philippines similarly got off to a wobbly start, managing only a one out of two matches. Corteza issued a devastating win over Singapore's Bernard Tey 9-1, while Alcano diminished Indonesia's Ricky Yang's chances to qualify for this Sunday's semi-finals with a 9-7 win, despite the strong support from the partisan crowd at the Grand Hyatt Bali. Malaysia's Ibrahim Amir and Dharminder Singh Lilly of India face an uphill task after losing their opening matches today. Amir lost to Chinese Taipei's Chang 6-9 while Lilly was ousted by Wu 1-9.
