Ratchaburi Holding Announces the 3rd Quarter of 2007 Unreviewed Operating Performance of 560 Million Baht

Bangkok--30 Oct--RATCH Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL. (RATCH), a leading independent power producer, announces its unreviewed operating performance of the Company and subsidiaries for the third quarter of 2007 ended September 30, 2007. The Company recorded net profit of 560.69 million baht or earning 0.39 baht per share decreased by 1,234.68 million baht or 69% of the net profit of 1,795.37 million baht from the same period of the previous year. Mr. Narong Sitasuwan, Managing Director of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL. revealed that the net profit of the 3rd quarter had declined due to the major overhaul of the Thermal power plant Unit 1 and Combined-Cycle power plant Block 2 at Ratchaburi Power Plant. Both power plants have been shut downed operation follow by the operating and maintenance plan to do a major overhaul every 6 years. This slightly affected the electricity sales incomes which consisted of the Availability Payment (AP) of 2,500.74 million baht decreased by 21.09% or 668.21 million baht, the Operating and maintenance fee of 235.22 million baht increased by 213.90 million baht and spare parts expenses of 352.44 million baht increased by 273.66 million baht from the same period of last year. Nevertheless, this major overhaul plan did not affect the Company’s projected revenue and profit of 2007. Besides the major overhaul plan, the Company had also paid the administrative expenses of 201.57 million baht that increased by 76.24 million baht or 60.83% compared to the same period of last year. This was due to the project development for new investment both in the country and abroad as well as the preparation of new Independent Power Producer (IPP) bidding on October 19. In this quarter, the Company had recorded the profit of 10,264.23 million baht which comprised of electricity sales of 9,923.68 million baht, interest income of 138.81 million baht, sharing profit of joint-venture companies amounted to 180.90 million baht and other incomes of 20.84 million baht. The Company’s total costs and expenses were 9,703.55 million baht, consisted of cost of sales of 9,145.69 million baht and administrative expenses & Directors’ Remuneration of 208.35 million baht. Meanwhile, the Company’s interest expense and income tax were 349.51 million baht. Regarding the recent IPP bidding, Mr. Narong added that the Company has submitted the bid for two 800-megawatt plants which are an 800-MW plant on its own at Ratchaburi Power Plantin Ratchaburi and another 800-MW project with Rojana Industrial Park PCL. (ROJANA) in Ayutthaya. The Company has prepared its readiness on source of fund, the strategic sites both accessible to the transmission system and natural gas pipeline, as well as existing facilities to be geared up for business expansion. Furthermore, the Company has successfully passed the Environmental-Impact Assessment (EIA) as a result of our high standard and efficiency of environment management.
