Bangkok--16 Nov--ICT Ministry Of Information And Communication Technology (ICT) will prove once again a big success for participants and companies from 11 countries, which will create more than 100 vigorous business missions at ICT Expo 2007. More than 20 top-name speakers and experts in ICT around the world, including Jimmy Wales — the founder of Wikipedia, will make their presence at the event. Bangkok International ICT Expo 2007 is poised to open for ICT operators and visitors this week. The event will serve as a significant stage for public learning based on the principle of “Sufficient Economy” under its theme concept of “Towards A Sustainable ICT Ecosystem,” said Mr. Sue Lor-uthai, Deputy Secretary-General and Acting Secretary-General of ICT Ministry after a recent visit by members of the press. In its forth year, Bangkok International ICT Expo 2007 has redesigned its platform from a consumer-based event to an international trade show in its efforts to lay down a foundation that support the sustainable development for Thailand through international cooperation in trade, investment, and ICT innovation development. More than 200 companies and business operators engaged in the government visitor’s program on business discussion come from 11 countries: the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, South Korea, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Myanmar. The event is expected to attract more than 400,000 visitors and generate over 5 billion baht. “On November 16th-17th, which are set for business talks only for businessmen and business operators from Thailand and abroad, we strongly believe that it will create a minimum of 100 business partnerships and join-investments,” he said.ICT Forum is set to be one of the highlights of the event since it was well responded by more than 20 ICT experts from a wide range of industries in Thailand and from abroad. On of them is Mr. Jimmy Donal Jimbo Wales, who founded Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia for public participation. The online information search and achieve service provider allows visitors to add and update information. It’s now dubbed as the best only encyclopedia service. Other top speakers are, for example, Mr. Molly Gavin, director of public sector relation at Qualcomm, who will give a talk on 3G and life enrichment; Dr. Ray Owen, Chief of Technology and Networking for South Asia and East Asia at Motorola, will share his ideas about the role of wireless broadband in developing countries; Mr. Howard Charney, Senior Vice President at Cisco Systems, will deliver speech on the increasing growth of communication technology and the Internet. “We focus on seminars and talks at ICT Forum by inviting world-class speakers to exchange information to Thai business operators so that they could bring the information to further effectively develop their businesses. It brings a good sign that the future of Thailand’s ICT is ensured of stability and sustainability,” he said. Technology companies will introduce latest ICT innovation at the event, such as Cisco Systems Inc will showcase its Cisco Express — a container-look-alike wireless network facilities that can combine Cisco solutions into one place. United Distribution Business or UD will present “Smart Log”, a new application to help cellphone users track their mobile phones in case of theft or loss. Smart Log will create a memory for the cellphone so that it can recognize its owner. When the cellphone is lost or its sim card is replaced, the phone will send a warning signal to the owner instantly. Meanwhile, TOT Plc. plans to introduce an IT solution using broadband networking run by LMS (Learning Management System), a new content program called Learn Park for online learning service. Bangkok International ICT Expo is held in conjunction with Thailand Animation And Multimedia (TAM 2007) between 16-20 November 2007 at Challenger 2-3, Impact Muang Thong Thani from 10.00-20.00.
