Bangkok--29 Nov-- Eight of Thailand’s award-winning photographers recently traveled the country to find images that would express the love and loyalty that Thai people everywhere feel for their King. They have now combined their photographs into a book entitled, Rao Rak Nai Luang (We Love Our King). In a limited edition of 10,000 copies co-produced by Tardkhongpaendin Co. Ltd., the 342-page book will raise funds for the Chaipattana Foundation and the Royal Development Projects. The book contains 285 memorable, full-color studies of Thai people of all ages from different regions and segments of society, all united by their profound affection for and loyalty to the King. The pictures include a wide variety of subjects. One shows a collection of over 100 lockets with the King’s image inside belonging to a resident of Amphawa district in Samut Songkhram; another captures a performance by synchronized swimmers’ to celebrate the King 80th birthday, and another is the portrait of an amateur sculptor and some of over 100 images of the King that he has made. “We wanted to convey our experiences and the impressions they made on us after we’d finished the Maharachan (The Great King) book on the celebrations for His Majesty’s 60 years on the throne last year,” said one of the photographers, Boonthachai Chaiviroonjaroen. Each had traveled throughout the country at his own expenses to take pictures that expressed the theme from his own point of view and with his individual vision and creativity. The combined travels of the eight photographers represented a total of 800 days. “These images of the people’s loyalty for the King made us remember the principles of sufficiency and the need to continue doing good,” said Anake Wongpaitoonpiya, another photographer. “We completed the book with the help of Tanin Punprapakij, president of Tardkhongpaendin, who contributed five million baht towards its production. He told us he wanted the money to be for the King, not for himself, as because of the King, his life was so much better.” Rao Rak Nai Luang (We Love Our King) will be available at bookstores from November 29 price 999 baht. All proceeds will be donated to the Chaipattana Foundation and the Royal Development Projects. The photographs will also be on display at “The Living Images” exhibition at Hall 9, Impact Muang Thong Thani, from November 29 to December 5.
