Bangkok--30 Jan--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s realistic online stock simulation game, SET Click2WIN, was a first for Thailand in 2007 and involved 17,209 players. Because the game gave people confidence in investing, it contributed to 1,500 new trading accounts being opened shortly thereafter. Winners of the 'investors' and 'experimenters' categories achieved 163% and 146% returns respectively. Following the game’s success in 2007, The Exchange will run it again in 2008, with prizes totaling THB 1.6 million. “SET Click2WIN employed virtual stock market information and conditions, with real-time information based on what is actually happening on the market,” SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said. About 21% of the players were existing investors, while the other 79% had not had trading accounts but were interested in trying the game, SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Ms. Chanisa Chutipat said. The winner of the ‘investor’ category was Mr. Poopakorn Parasri, and the winner of the ‘experimenter’ category was Mr. Seksithi Chup-uppakarn. During the simulation, total trading value was THB 61,800 million, or 6.5% of total market turnover in the same period. This would be a daily average of THB 1,400 million. The trading volume was 12,520 million securities, or 13.2% of total volume during the game period. Applications for this year’s SET Click2WIN will be accepted in April and the competition will run from July to October, SET Executive Vice President-Capital Market Opportunity Center Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich added. Prizes for the ‘investor’ and ‘experimenter’ winners will be THB 300,000 and THB 100,000 respectively. There will also be about 100 prizes for monthly winners and Top 500 scorers.
