Bangkok--6 Feb--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) declared that after the campaign Let’s Activate Your LTF-Investor Plus, the overall asset size of long-term equity funds (LTF) expanded by THB 14,243 million (for accounts with THB 20,000 or more) in 2007. Total net asset value (NAV) of the 53 LTFs increased by THB 49,408 million (approx. USD 1.49 billion). December was the most active month for the funds, with 40,000 new accounts opened, lifting the total number of accounts to 137,073 - of which 45% were new accounts. “The number of new LTF accounts increased each month, with a surge in December, which was the cut-off for LTF-related tax privileges. That month’s new accounts more than tripled the number in November. A growing number of people now understand the advantages of LTF and the word continues to spread, SET Executive Vice President Vichate Tantiwanich said. The Let’s Activate Your LTF-Investor Plus campaign is supported by SET, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC) and its members, and the Putting Your Money to Work through Mutual Funds Project. The main initiative promoted long-term savings, financial planning and investing through institutions. This latter aim helps balance the proportion of institutional and retail investors in the Thai market. During the campaign, SET and the asset management companies hosted 73 seminars for the staff of listed companies and other organizations. Let’s Activate Your LTF-Investor Plus provides incentives to participants who persuade their friends to invest in the product, by giving them a chance to win extra units in a lucky-draw. Today (Feb. 5) is the last such draw for the campaign. Prizes for the 112 winning investors total THB 710,000 and they can check results at www.set.or.th/ltf or by calling SET Call Center on 0-2229-2222 from February 19.
