Shin Broadband has set its target to increase its sales of satellite dishes by four times to about 400,000 sets this year. The company plans also to actively expand its customer-base both in Bangkok and upcountry with the increase of retail network to more than 1,000 outlets, including the negotiation with new business partners for new TV programs in the future. The company successfully achieved the sales of 100,000 sets in only six months which exceeded its initial target of 50.000 sets through its 700 authorized shops throughout the country. “This overwhelming feedback reflected a huge consumers’ demand for highly-efficient DTV satellite dishes, which can offer better picture quality of any free-TV channel compared to conventional TV antennas. The new DTV satellite dishes also require affordable budget for one-time installation without other monthly payment,” said Thanadit. Thanadit said that the DTV satellite dishes are gaining more popularity in the market thanks to its low price, the key factor that makes it easy for the consumers to make a purchase decision particularly in this time of economic difficulty. Because of this trend, the company has set the proactive strategy to boost the dish sales volume and broaden the user segment. The DTV Ku-band satellite dishes, 60-centrimeter in diameter, receive the signals from Thaicom 5 satellite. The dishes provide a clear TV signals to home and easy to be installed. The dish set includes the set-top-box and remote control. It supports the viewing of Channel 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, TPBS, and 15 educational channels, ETV, Money Channel, DMC, TGN, Parliament TV Channel, radio channels, and upcoming channels in the future. The dishes feature the compact size in lime yellow color and with affordable price of only 1,925 baht per set (excluding installation fee), which will make them quickly gain popularity in the market. Shin Broadband will also seek partnership with many companies in order to provide additional free channels for its customers. This year, Shin Broadband is preparing to broaden its dish’s market share in the provinces aiming to increase the proportion of provincial customers to 70 % and Bangkok 30 %.
