Bangkok--20 Feb--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and capital market professionals will join Money Expo Korat 2008 during February 22 — 24, at MCC Hall, The Mall Department Store in Nakorn Ratchasima (aka Korat) province. The exchange’s booth will feature a one-stop service for people looking for investment alternatives including stocks, bonds, derivatives, and mutual funds. Visitors will also receive a free personal investment style guide and account book. The SET’s investor promotion activity will kick off with Money Expo Korat 2008, where the exchange and related organizations in the capital market will join to provide updated information, products, and services to people in Northeast Thailand, SET Executive Vice President Vichate Tantiwanich said. “Nakorn Ratchasima, or Korat province, is a major economic and tourism city. In 2007, the region recorded securities trading value of THB 120,812 million, of which about 32% or THB 38,683 million, was from Korat. There are a total of 10 brokerage offices located in this province,” Mr. Vichate said. Participating capital market organizations in this event includes SET, mai (Market for Alternative Investment), Bond Electronic Exchange, Thailand Futures Exchange, Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand, Thailand Securities Institute, Thailand Securities Depository, SETTRADE.Com, Money Channel, “Putting Your Money to Work through Mutual Funds” project, five securities firms, and another five investment management firms. SET EVP Vichate explained that the group and other alliance members will showcase information and products in Korat similar to the Bangkok event called “SET in the City”, which highlights investment alternatives over traditional savings. The activity theme is “Investment = saving2”. At the fair, people will learn more about investment choices like stocks, bonds, derivatives, mutual funds, and commodities, as well as information resources and personal financial management program. The latest road show held in Chiang Mai at end-2007 was well-attended. There were 10,060 people visiting the SET Group’s booth, and total transactions of all capital market organizations were recorded at THB 92 million, Mr. Vichate said. At Money Expo Korat 2008, the first 1,000 visitors to SET booth will receive a free personal account book.
