Marriott Resort & Spa Bangkok Renovates new staff areas to be a great place to work

Bangkok--25 Feb--Marriott Resort & Spa Bangkok The hotel recently gave most of the staff areas a major overhaul which has given a lift and raised the Associates morale and motivation. As Mr. David Wain, Cluster Director of HR for the Marriott Resorts & Spas, Thailand explains: We really wanted to give something back to our associates as a thank you for everything they do. What started with a small idea eventually moved to a greater scope and interest. Firstly we replaced our notice boards with interactive LCD’s that keep the information fresh and entertaining. We found that the LCD’s give us so much more flexibility in how we communicate with the staff. We can display information or updates directly after an event and then swap the information at the touch of a button. The new LCD’s compliment the renovated walkways which now display motivational quotes along the corridors. We liked the idea of giving staff something to read as they walked through the hotel and every quote has a motivating and inspiring message to it. To provide the staff with a true sense of belonging to the Marriott family we erected an 80 year Marriott timeline at the Associate entrance. This enables staff to see how the company started and what has happened over the past 80 years to make it such a success. We finally focused on 2 other key areas for our staff. Firstly addressing the most used facility by our Associates : the Staff Canteen. We have totally changed the look and feel of the canteen and gone towards a fresh & modern food court style. The changes did not just focus on the facilities but also on the menu. We added several selections on the salad bar to encourage healthy eating, introduce a western style dish to vary the food and increase the variety of the drinks selection. Secondly, to compliment our focus on learning and development we also re-energized our Self Access Center (SAC) room. The education center boasts now a larger selection of interactive self education programs using CDs and DVDs, private reading area, and many new modern hi-speed internet stations for the Associates to browse our Marriott International Web Training Center. There are plenty more enhancement projects to come for 2008 but I can’t really give you much away at this stage...Hardly in hotels you will find such focus in the associates facilities but here at the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa it is a foundation of taking care of the Associates before they will take care of our Guests. No wonder why the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa is remaining a great place to work and recognized by the industry...
