From June 26th — July 6th the very best Indonesian cuisine will be available right here in Bangkok at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers first Indonesian Food Festival. Each day etc...on the river, the hotel’s signature restaurant, will present diners with an authentic Indonesian buffet lunch and dinner cooked by gifted guest chef, I Wayan Mahardika and Chef I Gusti Ketut Murjana from the Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua in Bali. Chef I Wayan will be serving up Indonesian appetizers such as sapi sisit, shredded roast beef with lemongrass, long beans and rice noodle, and ayam pelalah, roast free range chicken with Balinese chilli and lime. Diners will be able to sample the delights of pepes ikan, white reef fish and turmeric spices wrapped in banana leaf, and kepiting goreng, wok-fried crab with chilli relish, tomato and spring onion. Classic dishes such as mee goreng Jawa, Javanese-style fried egg noodle with chicken and sweet soy sauce, and kare ikan, Balinese curried fish. Tempting desserts also feature at this fabulous Indonesian Food Festival. Guests can try cantik manis, iced sago pearls with fresh coconut milk sauce, and jaja kukus, steamed sticky rice with coconut and palm sugar. With fresh herbs and spices, lean meats, rice and an abundance of vegetables, Indonesian food is not only delicious it’s healthy too. As in Thailand, eating in Indonesia is a communal affair; the more at the table the merrier. Good company and good food, it seems, is a universal pleasure.
