Bangkok--26 Jun--Thana Burin Asia Pacific Developed to appeal to passengers seeking more space and an enhanced level of service Qantas has developed its Premium Economy seats which not only give passengers additional space and comfort, but also an efficient and quality service from the time passengers arrive at the airport until they leave at their end destination. Qantas and British Airways Manager Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia Kevin McQuillan said “The introduction of Qantas Premium Economy for passengers from Thailand offers a new choice on our long haul international routes and is expected to attract additional passengers to fly Qantas.” After finalising formalities at their own dedicated check in Qantas Premium Economy travellers flying between London and Sydney are now able to take advantage of their very own private 32 seat cabin with a 2-4-2 configuration on Boeing 747-400s. The Qantas Premium Economy Class also offers dedicated cabin crew and additional allowance for hand baggage as well as priority boarding and disembarkation. Sydney born Marc Newson, one of the world’s most influential designers was commissioned to design the plush seats, made by Recaro the manufacturer of seats for luxury auto brands. The seat pitch is 38-40” compared to the Qantas Economy seat of 31”, whilst the seat width in Premium Economy is 19.5” compared to 17.5” in Economy Class. Additionally, the seat recline in Premium Economy is 9” compared to only 6” in Economy. For entertainment Qantas is the only airline with 21.3 cms (8.4”) in-arm digital touch screen video monitor. Available throughout the flights are 60 movies, 200 TV programmes (includes destination guides), 20 Radio Q channels, 150 CDs, Moving Map and 10 interactive games. Qantas Premium Economy also includes a self-service bar offering a selection of refreshments throughout the flight in addition to the regular choice of meals designed by Neil Perry’s Rockpool group and premium wines. “Reaction to Qantas Premium Economy in the Thai market has been positive since we introduced the service. Having Qantas Premium Economy is important as it ensures that we continually improve services to support the increasing demand of our customers,” McQuillan added. Currently, Qantas is recognised as one of the world’s leading long distance airlines, as well as one of the strongest brands in Australia. Bangkok is one of Qantas’ gateways on the Kangaroo Route.
