THAI Announces Results of its Board of Directors Meeting

Bangkok--10 Jul--Thai Airways Yesterday (9 July 2008), Thai Airways International Public Company Limited held a Board of Directors Meeting at THAI’s Head Office, chaired by Mr. Chaisawasd Kittipornpaiboon, THAI’s Chairman, with the following results: THAI’s Board of Directors acknowledged progress on the aircraft acquisition project to acquire 20 Airbus A321-200 aircraft. The aircraft acquisition project was approved by THAI’s Board of Directors on 16 January 2008. THAI’s Board acknowledged progress made on the General Terms of Agreement (GTA) and the Acquisition Agreement, according to detailed discussions between the company and Airbus. Furthermore, the A321-200 project documentation also received the Board’s approval and will be proposed to the Minister of Transport before being submitted to the Cabinet. The Airbus A321-200 is a short-to-medium range, narrow-bodied aircraft with a capacity of 179 seats, to be employed on domestic and regional routes. The A321-200 will replace some retired aircraft and will accommodate more passengers. The new aircraft, which is more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, is expected to enter the fleet during years 2012-2017.
