Bangkok--11 Jul--Mileage SriLankan Airlines, the National Carrier of Sri Lanka is to introduce 3 additional flights between Bangkok and Colombo. The flights, which are scheduled to operate from the 15th of July, will increase the current daily operations to 10 flights a week. Mr. Amitabh Anthonypillai, SriLankan Airlines Country Manager for Thailand and the Mekong Region stated that, “we at SriLankan always look at ways to enhance our product offering to our clientele. As a prelude to this, taking into account the high growth rate of traffic to & from Thailand, we would introduce 3 additional flights from our hub (Colombo) to Bangkok which translates to approximately 900 additional seats”. “Considered as one of the world’s most popular destinations, Bangkok assumes a pivotal role in the airline’s route network. Currently, the airline operates a daily flight from Colombo to Bangkok; of which 3 continue on to Beijing and 3 to Hong Kong and a Colombo / Bangkok return on Tuesdays. The additional flights which will also be operated Colombo / Bangkok return, would depart Bangkok at 1505hrs on Tuesdays and 1315hrs on Wednesdays and Fridays. “In order to celebrate the arrival of our new flights we would be putting out some amazing fares & packages to Colombo and beyond in the coming months” Mr. Amitabh added. SriLankan Airlines provides the Thai traveler with one-stop rapid connections to Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia (India, Maldives & Pakistan). The jewels in the airline operations are its 100 flights a week to 11 destinations in India, 17 flights a week to Maldives and 12 flights to London (from Colombo). In 2007, SriLankan Airlines carried 3.2 million passengers around its global network in its modern all Airbus fleet of A330, A340 & A320’s; this was the largest number of passengers carried by the airline in a calendar year since its inception in 1979.
