Jetstar further grows services to Bali via expansion of Darwin international hub Daily Brisbane-Darwin-Denpasar* route to commence 3 December 2008

Bangkok--15 Sep--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar will introduce a daily Brisbane-Darwin-Denpasar* service from 3 December 2008, significantly boosting its international operations between Australia and the popular Indonesian holiday destination. (*Subject to regulatory approval). Jetstar’s new daily A320 service, to operate through the carrier’s expanding international and domestic hub in Darwin, will provide one stop and highly competitive access to Bali from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The services will complement Jetstar’s existing direct long haul services to Bali from Sydney (4 times weekly) and Melbourne (2 times weekly) with its fleet of two class A330-200 aircraft. Jetstar’s every day one way web fares (JetSaver Light) between Darwin-Denpasar* start from $AUD239 and from $AUD399 on the Brisbane-Darwin-Denpasar* route at Jetstar.com. Jetstar will also expand Brisbane-Darwin* domestic frequencies from 6 to 13 times weekly, adding a new daylight service between both cities. Jetstar Group General Manager Commercial Bruce Buchanan said as the largest Australian airline serving the Bali market, the new low fare services were a response to the island’s recovery of its tourism industry. “Australians holidaying in Bali has been growing strongly with ABS statistics showing a 63 per cent jump in visitors in 2007. This year alone Australians traveling to Bali has risen by 60 per cent,” Mr Buchanan said. “Future Jetstar services to Bali from Darwin* and commencing from Perth* on 27 October will enable us to further grow our Australian services into South East Asia including Bali, whilst also building on Jetstar’s expanding pan Asian network. “From Darwin our through international services to Singapore and Vietnam opens up a further 22 South East Asian markets and destinations such as Bangkok and Hong Kong at affordable fares, underlining the strategic thinking behind our Darwin expansion plans.” Mr Buchanan said the new Jetstar services will offer a Qantas code share in line with existing Jetstar international and domestic flights. The Qantas Group has today lodged an application to the International Air Services Commission (IASC) for Jetstar’s newly proposed international services. Jetstar passengers on its new international services to Bali will be offered pre-flight seat allocation, with meals, comfort packs and video on demand also available for purchase on board. Mr Buchanan said Jetstar was committed to offering the lowest fares in the market, by providing our customers with choice in how they travel, with initiatives such as JetSaver Light and Extra Leg Room Seating.
