Bangkok--22 Sep--InterContinental Bangkok Summer Palace Chinese restaurant at InterContinental Bangkok has created a special menu as part of this year’s Vegetarian Festival. Ethnic Thai-Chinese in Thailand have long observed the festival, known as jay, in order to purify body and mind. During the nine-day event, adherents abstain from eating meat and animal products as well as even some stronger-smelling vegetables and fruits. An increased focus on meditation practice complements the special diet.For this year’s festival, Summer Palace features Guangdong-style Chinese vegetarian specialities. Whether guests prefer vegetables in a soup, steamed or fried, Master Chef Cheung Chin Choi has created dishes certain to appeal to all. The menu includes delicacies such as Deep-fried Taro Served with Black Mushroom Sauce, Pan-fried Eggplant with Soya Sauce “Hong Kong Style” and Wok Saut้ed Asparagus with Cashew Nuts.
