Oman Air opens new Airport office at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangkok--15 Oct--Four Hundred Oman Air has received a tremendous success after nearly one year of its operations to Bangkok from Muscat .Recently, it added one more flight to its existing 5 weekly flights to respond to the need of booming tourism into Thailand. In 2007, 38,000 tourists visited Thailand from Oman and In 2009, Oman Air expects to double this figure as it operates with a very high load factor to and from Bangkok. To cater to the increasing traffic, the airline opened its new operations office at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Mr. Bennet Stephens, Country Manager of Oman Air to Thailand, revealed that after it had launched the new route, Muscat — Bangkok, on November 28, 2008, with five flights per week, it received good response from both Oman and the Thai markets. The airline therefore increased the flights to six per week. It expects over 100,000 Omani tourists to visit Thailand in 2009, more than twice the number of passengers visited in 2008. The passengers visiting Thailand on Oman Air are divided into the group of health care by 45% and tourists and business investing in Thailand by 55%. Because of the growing demand, Oman Air changed the aircraft type from Boeing 737-800 to Airbus A310 to accommodate more passengers. In recognition of its efforts to generate more tourism to Thailand and its current contribution to “ tourism Thailand”, Tourism authority of Thailand awarded Oman Air with “Friends of Thailand Awards 2008” under the category of international airline. We are extremely delighted to receive this award and the recognition from the Tourism Authority of Thailand said Mr. Bennet. Mr. Bennet added that the airline opened its new office at Suvarnabhumi Airport to increase its potential in serving and responding to the travelers’ who need more assistance either in the town office or at the Airport office. With the 330’s joining the fleet starting from July 2009, the airline is preparing to add extra service in its long-haul flights, in-flight satellite TV with Rockwell Collins’ Tailwind 560 system to use with the in-flight TV system for seven Airbus A330s when it join the service from Jul 2009.Tailwind 560 is the only system proved and certified in multi-region Direct Broadcast Satellite, DBS, for the air transportation market. This system can present live programs, both on and above ground. Furthermore, 360-degree adjustable antenna can receive the continual signal from DBS, no matter where the plan is or is heading to. With this system, the passengers of Oman Air have an opportunity to select live programs from various areas at 35,000 feet above the ground.
