Next generation travelers are heavy users of the latest technology. Two thirds of 2,559 people surveyed by Ypartnership and PhoCusWright in the ‘NEXTgen Traveler’ report take pictures, text message, access the Internet and play video games with their phones. They also rely heavily on the Internet when it comes to planning, purchasing and sharing information on travel experiences.
According to YPartnership, the next generation of travelers wants casual food available anytime, free Internet, views and self-service check-in/checkout. Leading hotel brands have incorporated technology to their hotel concept to attract these travelers such as Starwood’s Alof, InterContinental’s Hotel Indigo, Marriott’s Courtyard, and Hilton’s Garden Inn.
Am I ready for next generation travelers? This is a question that hoteliers and hotel technology professionals have to ask themselves now and then act quickly before it is too late. It is obvious that “Adoption of these new technologies by end-users is exponentially increasing, and some say we have an insatiable appetite,” noted Mr. Terence Ronson, Managing Director, Pertlink Co, Ltd. who will speak on ‘Effectively and Efficiently Provisioning Technology for NEXTGEN Travelers’ at the Hotel Technology Conference 2008.
The Hotel Technology Conference 2008, where hotel technology experts will share their insight on how hotel should react to increasing demands of next generation travelers, will take place on 29 October 2008 at Monthatip Room, the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Thailand.
Ms. Ratchanee Teepprasan, Director of Corporate ICT Solutions & Business Data Services, True Corporation Plc. who will touch on ‘Internet & Wireless Technology’ agreed and added that “with today's demand for more sophisticated and efficient communications channels, Internet and wireless technology is important for both hotel management efficiency as well as for creating a high-level of customer satisfaction among guests. Effective Internet & Wireless applications and solutions can help leverage management and customer service efficiency and differentiate a hotel's services from others.”
“Nowadays, the network is at an inflection point where it's more than a physical network — it's about the human network and the end user is in charge,” according to Mr. Howard Tse, Business Development Manager — Hospitality, Integrated Solutions Group, APAC, CISCO who will speak on ‘The Human Network Effect on Next Generation Hotel’. He continued that “The network is changing how we socialize, how we communicate, how we are entertained. Right now, business requires the network platform for people to build businesses upon and transform life's experiences… In the past, technology innovation was driven by the enterprise — where content, connectivity, and applications were pushed out to employees, partners, and customers. Now it is the end users who are empowered, driving innovation in this human network, and changing our experiences — whether at work, at home, at play or at hotel.”
