TATA DAEWOO displayed Korea’s first 4.5 ton (payload) LPG Truck conforming to EURO V emission norms at 21st World LP Gas Forum held in Seoul from 24th to 26th Sep 2008. The World LPG Forum aims at promoting applications of LP Gas with a view to improving Quality of Life and helps tackle the wider issue of Climate Change.
The LPG-MCV truck developed by Tata Daewoo along with other partners — the Ministries of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Korea Energy Management Corporation and a consortium of 12 organizations- uses next generation technology with LPG Liquid Phase Injection (LPLi) 5.9 litre LPG engine with power of 240 PS. It not only promotes the use of a low-pollution fuel that meets Euro V requirements , but also overcomes the disadvantages of the conventional LPG or diesel vehicles, namely, low power output and engine start-up problems, particularly during winter. In addition this will also help dramatically reduce noise and emission levels along with an enhanced engine life as compared to the existing diesel-fueled trucks.
The prototype of 4.5 ton LPG truck was displayed both in the World LP Gas Forum in Seoul and also exhibited at the Gunsan International Auto Expo (GAEX) and it has already captured the imagination of the viewers as an environment- friendly truck which promotes low-carbon “green growth”.
Winning certification for low emission for diesel-fueled Euro IV HCV and MCV, low emission CNG truck- already in production, development of LNG truck together with Korea Gas Corporation and now the addition of LPG truck by Tata Daewoo are attributed to the success of investments made by the company in R&D and its commitment to clean-fuel technology.
With the development of the eco-friendly LPG truck, TDCV has strengthened its image as a socially responsible company determined to stay ahead by pioneering the use of cutting-edge environment friendly technology in the design, development and manufacture of commercial vehicles in Korea.
