The Market for Alternative Investment (mai) will continue boost investor confidence even though foreign investors are currently net sellers in the Thai market. This year’s investment fair, SET in the City 2008, will feature a team of securities analysts and fund managers ready to provide investment tips to gain high returns. The event will take place during November 20-23, at Royal Paragon Hall, 5th Fl., Siam Paragon Shopping Complex, Bangkok.
As world stock markets continue to tumble, investors have an opportunity to scoop up solid stocks with sound fundamentals and dividends at historically low prices and await higher returns when the market recovers, mai President Chanitr Charnchainarong said.
The recent ongoing sell-off by foreign investors, who are repatriating cash, has driven stock prices to below true value and triggered unwarranted fear on mai, even though foreign players represent only three to five percent of total investors. Panic-selling on the secondary board was observed despite the fact that during the H1/2008, mai-listed companies showed earnings growth of more than 70 percent.
“Under current circumstances, investors should carefully consider and study all information before making any decisions and remember that now is the time to turn crisis into opportunity by investing for higher future returns,” Mr. Chanitr explained.
mai will offer comprehensive information to investors during the upcoming SET in the City 2008 at the seminar: Attractive stocks in 2009. In addition, participants can discover investment highlights for all mai-listed companies at the mai booth.
At present, there are 49 listed firms on the alternative market with total market capitalization of THB 22.63 billion (approx. USD 647.97 million).
