Sri Lanka’s award-winning carrier: SriLankan Airlines has been selected by The Islamic Committee of Songkhla, Thailand’s largest Islamic committee, to be its official carrier to fly the Muslim brethren in Thailand to attend the annual Haj pilgrimage in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The first group of pilgrims was led by Khun Aziz Phitakkumpon, (3rd from left) the President of the Islamic Committee of Songkhla and Khun Suwandee Yusohhem, (4th from left). To ensure a smooth check-in before flying off on the most Holy pilgrimage, they were greeted by SriLankan Country Manager, Khun Amitabh Anothonypillai (2nd from left) and his management team, including Khun Sitdhichon Phinijrithikorn (far right), Passenger Sales Manager, Ms. Nilanthi Mendis (3rd from right), Regional Airport Service Manager Pacific Rim and the airline senior airport representatives.
“In order to enhance the service levels on our Jeddah flights from Colombo, we now have a special 60 minute documentary on the performance of Hajj in Arabic on our in-flight entertainment system together with special Halal meals”, commented Khun Amitabh where service enhancements on SriLankan were concerned for the Hajj pilgrims in mind.
Sri Lankan now has a network of 44 destinations in 24 countries across Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Southeast Asia. It is one of the largest carriers into India, where it serves 11 cities. It provides convenient connections to nine cities in the Middle East, including three in Saudi Arabia — Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.
