New high-tech medical service directly suit urban people’s lifestyle
Samitivej, a leading private hospital in Thailand and Southeast Asia, joined forces with Boots Retail in launching “I-Care”, the country’s first online medical consultation. The service is available for the first time at Boots in Central Bangna Shopping Center.
Mr. Raymond Chong, Managing Director and CEO of Samitivej Public Company Limited, said, “Given busy life these days, consumers rely very much on information technology and has less time. “I-Care” is designed to meet this new lifestyle. Customers or patients do not have to come to the hospital but can seek our medical expert’s advice while doing shopping in a department store. We are proud to be the first private hospital in Thailand to provide this service to the public. And, this is a testimony of our promise to become “Connected Hospital” where no boundary between the IT, medical and consumers’ worlds is found. We would like to thank our partner Boots for making this new service possible.”

They can now rest assured that their health problems are accurately addressed in a blink. We can also provide them with the right medicine that provides the best cure.”

Customers will also receive greater convenience while spending less time and money when they need medical service from Samitivej, their lifetime companion.”
Under “I-Care” Samitivej has set up a mobile “doctor room” inside Boots shop. The room is equipped with a computer and full range of communications equipment. Customers can inform the cashier that they need to see a doctor and Boots staff member will contact Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital to arrange a doctor. The customer will then go inside the doctor room, log in, register and provide basic information before they are connected online to one of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital’s medical experts. A high definition digital camera, which is normally used by professionals providing telemedicine service, will allow doctor, who physically sits at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, to give consultation. After the review, customers will receive prescription and conveniently buy medicine at Boots.
Prior to introducing the service, Samitivej has conducted a consumers’ survey. The survey result showed that more than 90% of the surveyed group love “I-Care” because it is quick, convenient and, more importantly, fun.
Special during the launch, Samitivej will offer an introduction service rate of only Bt250 compared to the Bt400 per doctor visit.
