TOYS R US JOINS FASHION ISLAND IN THE TOY WORLD FAIR

Bangkok--6 Jan--Siam Retail Development - The toy market is still promising, against economic slow-down. - Toys R Us is confident its operation result in 2008 continues to grow. Toys Retailing (Thailand) Company Limited, the operator of Toys R Us outlets, and Siam Retail Development Company Limited, the Fashion Island’s operator, will jointly organize the Toy World during Children’s Day Festival from Friday 9th through Sunday 18th January 2009. Mr. Manit Lertsakornsiri, Country Manager of Toys Retailing, said the objectives are to celebrate Children’s Day and to open up an opportunity for children and youngsters to the exciting toys from around the world as well as to completely entertain every member of the family. Highlights will be the first-of-its-kind exhibition of collective toys from Thailand’s toy-collectors. Each displayed toy is between 20-30 years old.” Mr. Prasert Sriuranpong, Executive Director of Siam Retail Development, said Fashion Island had allocated more than 1,000 sq. m. space for the event on first floor’s Fountain Ground. The Fair will truly be the family entertainments, a time for enjoyable toys knowledge, and a time for toy-shopping at very special prices. And for Island Card Holders an exclusive and non-purchasable giraffe doll worth 395 baht will be offered for free with every 1,500 baht purchase of Toys R Us products” Toy World Fair will be Fashion Island’s first special event of 2009. The management has planned a variety of events each month throughout the year with different concepts and contents to please every customer group. As the world is suffering economic slow-down which affected the general market but Toys R Us Thailand still is able to keep its 2-digit growth. “Because we offer the right product-mix to the market and market response from 120,000 Toys-R-Us members has been very positive. The opening of two more branches, one at The Esplanade in Bangkok and the other in Hua Hin Market Village, has certainly helped generate sales growth. In 2009 we plan open up one more sales outlet at Central Festival Pattaya. New products will be introduced with emphasis on the Toy Book product range. Our consumer communications will be done through appropriate media-mix, including product demonstration to reinforce Toys R Us’s product benefits and values.
