Bangkok--13 Jan--KTAM
Krung Thai Asset Management PCL (KTAM) unveiled the new FIF that allows a Thai investor to tap on the investment opportunities of the many well-known investment legends Warren Buffet, Dr Mark Mobius and Bill Gross.
Mr. Somchai Boonnamsiri, Chief Executive Officer, Krung Thai Asset Management PCL (KTAM) discloses that “KTAM Investment Legends Fund (KTIL) will be on IPO during January 19-30 and is currently under the approval process by the SEC. It’s the fund that invests in Investment Legends Fund, a sub fund that invests in master fund Celsius Fund Plc. managed by Barclays Capital Fund Solutions (BCFS). The master fund reflects the performance of a diversified pool of asset classes i.e. Equities 40%, Commodities 40% and Fixed Income 20%. Locally, the feeder fund is managed by well-respected fund manager KTIL who will invest no less than 80% of the KTIL fund’s net asset value to give the investors the maximum potential.
Mr. Somchai further comments that “KTIL is a fund, first of its kind in Thailand that combines a pool of quality investment insights of highly respected gurus in the world. It includes investment in Berkshire Hathaway Inc. managed by Warren Buffet, the world’s expert in equity investment; Templeton Emerging Markets Fund by Dr. Mark Mobius, one of the most successful emerging market investors; Total Return Bond Fund managed by Bill Gross who widely known as “The Bond King”. In addition, KTIL fund will have opportunity to gain from the performance of one of the world’s most diversified commodity index.
The current financial turmoil has provided tremendous opportunities which makes KTAM Investment Legends Fund is attractive for investors for these reasons: (1) Cheap valuation of most asset classes, (2) the track record of these Investment gurus have proven to have yielded out performance over time. (3) Moreover, the combined exposure to different asset classes potentially reduces the risks. Hence, this is a good answer for long-term investors who want to build their investment portfolio by buying high quality assets at the low price.
Speaking at the fund launch as KTAM’s key strategic alliance and KTIL selling agent, Khun Pavin Rodloytuk, Retail Banking Director, Citibank, N.A. said that “The establishment of Citi-KTAM partnership marks renewed conviction of the investment opportunities that lies ahead amid this economic turmoil. We are honoured to be partnering KTAM and hoping to tap on their expertise in managing and preserving monies for many state enterprise to Citigold customers through innovative products.
The Investment Legend Fund is one unique fund which KTAM researched and identified as one of these products that avail an opportunity in the current market taking advantage of the opportunity in the value space and the only fund that taps on the investment gurus like Warren Buffet. We at Citi are privileged to be bringing this product to our clients to capture the market opportunity.”
Ms Jas Lim, Head of Liabilities and Investment for Citigold shared Citi’s Investment Outlook 2009 .....A year of two halves:
“Following unprecedented turmoil in the global financial system, the world is now in the middle of a global recession, with major industrial economies expected to contract well into 2009.
A recovery from last year’s tumult appears elusive in the immediate term, as economic contraction, tight credit conditions and de-leveraging are likely to dominate at least the first half of the year, during which equity and credit markets are expected to be volatile. Some relief, albeit modest and tentative, may be found in the latter part of 2009, as the pace of economic pullback should ease up and credit markets normalise as risk aversion abates.
Against this backdrop, Citi recommends four investment themes to help investors navigate these challenging times:
Value Over Growth
Infrastructure
Investment-Grade Corporate Debt
Distressed Assets
From a total wealth portfolio perspective, investor needs to stick with the basic principles of investing like dollar cost averaging. We remain overweight equities for numerous reasons - attractive valuations, fiscal policies and stimuli injection. As seen in past recessions, it is the best time to build and accumulate and one should not miss this out. However, a diversified approach to investment will protected your downside and normally turns in handsome yield when the market eventually recovers with time.”
