Wins Recognition for Commitment to Environmental Sustainability, People-First Culture
FedEx Express recently came out tops in the first Global CSR Awards 2009, winning recognition for creating a workplace culture that respects and values its employees and also for its global sustainable development strategy.
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, was awarded the Gold honor in the Best Workplace Practices Award category and the Silver in the Best Environmental Excellence Award category.
The Global CSR Awards 2009 were organised by The Pinnacle Group International to honour companies that have demonstrated leadership, sincerity and ongoing commitment in incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements, and respect for individuals, communities and the environment in the way they do business.
The winners of four categories— Best Environmental Excellence, Best Community Program, Best Workplace Practices and CSR Leadership —were selected by a distinguished panel of judges made up of professionals from a variety of industry sectors and disciplines.
The FedEx submissions detailed the company’s role in pioneering commercially- viable and environmentally-responsible solutions as well as its People-Service-Profit (PSP) philosophy—“If we take care of our people, they will take care of our customers, and that will take care of our profit.”

A ranking in the top 50 of the Environmental Protection Agency’s April 2008 Green Power Partnership list of Fortune 500 companies that have invested in renewable energy.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2004 Clean Air Excellence Award for clean air technology in April 2005, along with the Environmental Defense Fund and Eaton Corporation, for their collaboration to launch the FedEx hybrid-electric truck.
Hewitt Associates, a leading US-based human resources firm, has consistently ranked FedEx as one of the “Top 10 Employers” in Asia since 2006, with Singapore ranked 7th under the individual country awards category.
In Hong Kong, FedEx was named the “Best Company for Women” at the Women of Influence Awards 2006 in Hong Kong, which is jointly organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the South China Morning Post.
