CP ALL has proudly presented Panyapiwat Building — the company’s construction prototype worth more than 440 MB — in the recently concluded 2008 Emerson Cup Design Competition in India and Southeast Asia. The building is a proof of its vision to design and construct a green project that saves energy and is environmental friendly. The project won the Silver award in the competition for its design that delivered the benefits of comfort, environmental protection and energy efficiency using central air conditioning systems powered by Copeland Digital Scroll?. It is also the only project from Thailand to win such award.
Mr. Vichien Chuengviroj, Vice President of CP ALL Public Co. Ltd, the operator of 7-Eleven convenience store operator in Thailand, was the representative for Thailand winner in the awarding ceremony. During the awarding, he revealed about CP ALL’s vision to conserve the environment in every aspect of its business conduct through Panyapiwat Institute of Technology, an institute for undergraduate and post-graduate education as well as training center under CP ALL’s umbrella. Built under a green construction concept, the project is fully equipped with energy as well as environmental conservation technologies, which could fully answer the organization’s various utility requirements.
“The construction of this institute is a clear proof of our intention to create a prototype and balance between man and its environment. In addition, it is also meant to provide knowledge for those who would like to study the art and science of green construction,” Mr. Vichien said. “All technologies used in this project have been tested and scientifically proven to be efficient especially the A/C system. The heart of the A/C system used in this project is the Digital Scroll technology, a remarkable solution that can reduce 40% annual energy consumption, while providing greater comfort, and a higher level of system reliability.”
With a total budget of more than 440 MB, the project was designed to consist of three main buildings and one utility building after taking all functions, suitable land appropriation, as well as all factors contributed to energy conservation, such as wind direction, sun light (reflection of heat radiation and heat transmission), building position, insulation materials, exterior landscape and energy conservation technology, water treatment and proper waste management into consideration. The three-story, multi-purpose Panyapiwat Institute of Technology Convention Hall, with a usable area of 5,470 SQM, was built on a 28-rai plot of land.
Mr.Arup Majumdar, Director Marketing, Emerson Climate Technologies further explained that Panyapiwat building was submitted to the competition by Optimum Consultant Co., Ltd., the project’s A/C design engineer. York air-conditioning system using Copeland Digital Scroll compressor was used in the project. “Emerson Climate Technologies is pleased to see a Thai project win this award. This is a clear proof of the potential and development of HVAC industry in Thailand,” he said.
Air-conditioning systems using Copeland Digital Scroll compressors have been specified in many prestigious projects in Asia including the ABP project in Beijing, one of the largest commercial projects in Asia consisting of 500 buildings and Dogok Dong Tower, a luxurious apartment in downtown Seoul, Korea, comprising 3,000 apartments. Panyapiwat Institute of Technology (PIT) is a business—owned institute for higher education (funded by CP ALL PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED).PIT has received permission from the Ministry of Education under the Higher Education Committee to open courses for under-and post-graduate students on March 2007.
It is located at 85/1 Chaengwattana Rd.Bangtalad Pakkred Nonthaburi, on 4.5 acres in the centre of town.
