Thai Green Design Network (TGDN) under the supervision of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology in cooperation with the Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC), supported by Ministry of Industry, announce the second design competition ‘EcoDesign 2009 Award’ under the theme ‘Reduce Global Warming with EcoDesign’. The winners will receive the trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and prizes totaling more than 300,000 baht. Widely open for school and university students, designers, the interested public, and the industrial sector, offering an opportunity to a variety of contestants to present different angles of innovative ideas and experiences.
The contest emphasizes in development of applying science and technological knowledge to create EcoDesign products, including with improving skills of economic & ecological design. It is also aims to spark innovative ideas in designing environment-friendly products and encourage Thai people to put more care on environment and help together to solve global warming problems. There are four divisions of the contestants in one individual or one team consisting of 3 peoples competitions, as follows: the 1st division consisting of students in secondary schools or equivalence, the 2nd division consisting of higher vocational, undergraduate, and graduate students or equivalence which on behalf of their educational institution, the 3rd division consisting of independent inventors and the interested public and in the 4th division consisting of industrial and Thailand-based business.
Concept paper can be submitted from now on until March 31th, 2009 with the first round of judging to take place around April 2009.
