Pakorn Pannachet, head of dtac’s VAS division, said dtac’s customers continued to express their love on Valentines’ Day by sending SMS and MMS messages. Throughout the Valentine’s Day or February 14, dtac’s customers sent 9 million SMS messages, 5.8% increase from 8.5 million SMS messages sent on Valentine’s Day last year. The number of MMS messages sent by dtac’s customers on Valentine’s Day slightly increased from 650,000 MMS messages last year to 660,000 this year. The peak hours for dtac’s customers to send Valentine messages were midnight of Feb 13 to 1am of 14 Feb. Last year, peak hours were from 9-11 am of the Valentine’s Day.
Averagely, dtac’s customers send 3 million SMS messages and 90,000 MMS messages a day. The SMS and MMS usage always increases sharply on New Year days and Valentine’s days.
