Bangkok--6 May--Integrated Communication
The Thai Frozen Foods Association (TFFA) aims to make the most of their participation at the upcoming THAIFEX—World of food ASIA 2009 with the first-ever ‘Thailand’s Frozen Food and Seafood’, a special activity regarded as one of the event’s many highlights. The event will run from May 13th-17th, 2009, at the Challenger 2-3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
Mr. Poj Aramwattananont, TFFA President, revealed that, “It is an undeniable fact that the global economic crisis has had a significant effect on the overall performance of Thailand’s export sector. However, it is also important to note that, as far as food-related products are concerned, there is still room for export growth, simply because food is one of life’s necessities that we just can’t do without. We anticipate that, this year, the export volumes for frozen food, frozen seafood and processed food will grow by 5%. In 2008, we generated a total of approximately 200,000 Million Baht worth of export value of such products. Referring to this number, products worth as high as 150,000 Million Baht were transported to destination markets by sea.”
“TFFA aims to raise international public awareness on the now 40-year-old history, experience and expertise of seafood, frozen food and processed food entrepreneurs in Thailand. Through our special activity — Thailand’s Frozen Food and Seafood—we aim to demonstrate the all-round capabilities and versatility of Thai entrepreneurs. Such capabilities range from raw material selection, production procedure, food processing, to innovative packaging concepts. The activity will be organized for the first time this year at THAIFEX—World of food ASIA 2009, organized by the outstanding partnership of the Department of Export Promotion, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the world-class German event organizer Koelnmesse. It aspires to become one of the year’s grandest and most comprehensive food expositions in Southeast Asia.” added Mr. Poj.
Highlights of the event include the grand showcase of export-grade seafood, frozen food and processed food by as many as 63 leading Thai companies in 216 booths. Moreover, visitors will also benefit from many interesting seminar topics including ‘Thailand’s Potential in Global Frozen Food Marketplace’, ‘Quality Control Standards for Seafood Products’, ‘Industry-wide Environmental Management’, ‘Sustainable Sea Shrimp Aquaculture’ and ‘Code of Conduct’.
