Bangkok--10 Aug--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Under the Serm Suk Green Dimensions initiative, Serm Suk has emphasized its position as a total beverage company that cares about environmental sustainability. Serm Suk’s Pathumthani Plant and Nakonsawan Plant have recently received the “Rak Mae, Rak Maenam” award from the Ministry of Industry in recognition of their excellence in Chao Phraya River sustainable conservation and rehabilitation in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Serm Suk has obtained the award for 2 consecutive years. “Rak Mae, Rak Maenam” is a river conservation program initiated by the Ministry of Industry in 2008 to extend the “Ruam Jai Phak, Rak Chao Phraya” project. It focuses on cooperation between the industrial section and communities in water pollution management and quality control. The discharged water is monitored and analyzed by the Department of Industrial Works and provincial industrial offices. Mr. Dhitivute Bulsook, General Manager-Pathumthani Plant, Serm Suk Public Company Limited (SSC) said Serm Suk is very proud that its Pathumthani and Nakonsawan Plants, which are located on the banks of Chao Phraya River, can help promote sustainable conservation and rehabilitation of the river in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. “Receiving the “Rak Mae, Rak Maenam” award for 2 consecutive years demonstrates our excellence in river conservation and rehabilitation as well as reflects our dedication and sincere concern about environmental management in 5 areas including water, packaging, energy, surroundings & ambience and human resources. These 5 Serm Suk Green Dimensions are core principles that Serm Suk employees adhere to.” Mr. Dhitivute added. “Water management is the essence in our manufacturing processes; the company has allocated over Bt100 million to water management in 5 plants to ensure the most efficient and effective use of this resource. Presently the amount of water used in production has declined by 180 million liters annually or 10%, Serm Suk also aims to reduce water use by up to 20% within 2011. With an effective waste water treatment system based on Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) and Activated Sludge (AS), the waste water becomes crystal clean before being released into the Chao Phraya River. It is 5 times cleaner than the standard determined by the Department of Industrial Works or 50 times cleaner than the waste water discharged from residential households.” (From photo) Mr. Chanchai Chairungruang (Center), Minister of Industry, granted the “Rak Mae, Rak Maenam” award to Mr. Dhitivute Bulsook (Right), General Manager - Pathumthani Plant, Serm Suk Public Company Limited and Mrs. Prangnee Chaipidej, Advertising & Public Relations Manager, Serm Suk Public Company Limited in recognition of Pathumthani Plant and Nakonsawan Plant’s excellence in Chao Phraya River conservation.
