Bangkok--30 Sep--Four Hundred
Siam City Concrete Company Limited (SCCO), a group company of Siam City Cement Public Company Limited (SCCC), has entered into an agreement to supply 200,000 cubic meters of ready mixed concrete for the construction of the Bang Sue-Talingchan Suburban Railway (Light Red Line), with Unique Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited at Column Tower, Bangkok.
SCCC Managing Director, Mr. Philippe Arto (Second from Left), and SCCO Managing Director, Mr. Siva Mahasandana (First from Left), representing SCCO, and Mr. Prasong Suvivattanachai (Third from Left) and Dr. Virach Rungrotesarathit (Forth from Left), representing Unique Engineering and Construction Plc., formally signed the supply agreement of 200,000 cubic meters of ready mixed concrete in a ceremony at the SCCO office today.
The supply of “INSEE Concrete” is ear-marked for the construction of the Bang Sue-Talingchan portion of construction of the Light Red Line Suburban Railway, which has been contracted to the Unique-Chunwoo Joint Venture. The ready-mixed concrete supply will be used in the construction of the line from 0+000 Km. (Bangkok Noi Station) to 6+400 Km. (Bang Bamru Station). The material will be used on the structural works of the rail tracks, as well as the construction of Talingchan, Bang Bamru, and Bangson stations.
For flexibility and prompt deliveries, SCCO has set up two on-site plants — the Chatuchak Plant has the capacity to supply 600 cubic meters per day of ready-mixed “INSEE Concrete” to the Bangson Station portion, while the Bangkok Noi Plant, also with a capacity of 600 cubic meters per day will be supplying the Talingchan-Bang Bamru segment.
This project marks the second collaboration between SCCO and Unique Engineering Plc, as the two companies have successfully worked together in 2007-2008 on the construction of the Ram-intra —Outer Ring Road Expressway project (Phase 1-2), in which 120,000 cubic meters of “INSEE Concrete” was required.
The Rangsit-Bang Sue-Talingchan Suburban Railway (Light Red Line) is divided into the 15-km Bang Sue-Talingchan segment and the 26-km Bang Sue-Rangsit segment, worth 13,133 million baht and 52,220 million baht, respectively. The project was approved by the Government in April 2008 and the construction got underway in May, 2008. The entire project is expected to be completed by June, 2011, while the calculated consumption of ready-mixed concrete is expected to total 350,000 cubic meters.
