Bangkok--4 Nov--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) together with SCB Securities Co., Ltd. and Citicorp Securities (Thailand) Ltd. held the roadshow "Economic Recovery/Domestic play" in Singapore during October 27-28. The event exceeded expectations. Seventeen listed firms joining the roadshow received so much attention from 49 foreign institutional investors that additional group meetings had to be arranged.
“Foreign institutions are still very interested in the potential and performance of Thai listed firms. In addition to 113 one-on-one meetings between fund managers and listed companies, 28 group meetings were held to fill investors’ requests,” revealed Chief Marketing Officer, Markets & Post-Trade Services Sopawadee Lertmanaschai.
“Even though SET Index has significantly increased this year, investors still find the market attractive, compared to other regional exchanges. Moreover, they suggested that SET should list more large companies with high potential to attract more investment. Meanwhile, they also mentioned that SET should support short sales (i.e., the selling of securities without having them in possession at the time of sale). Allowing such sales would enable fund managers and investors to manage their risk more effectively and develop securities borrowing and lending, raising liquidity levels in the overall market,” added Ms. Sopawadee.
The listed companies joining this roadshow were Advanced Info Service PCL (ADVANC), BEC World PCL (BEC), Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PCL (BGH), Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF), The Erawan Group PCL (ERAWAN), Home Product Center PCL (HMPRO), MCOT PCL (MCOT), Minor International PCL (MINT), Preuksa Real Estate PCL (PS), PTT PCL (PTT) , PTT Chemical PCL (PTTCH), Sansiri PCL (SIRI), The Siam Commercial Bank PCL (SCB), Thai Airways International PCL (THAI), Ticon Industrial Connection PCL (TICON), Tisco Financial Group PCL (TISCO) and Thai Oil PCL (TOP).
