Thai bourse welcome executives from The Pacific Pension Institute

Bangkok--10 Nov--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) hosted executives from The Pacific Pension Institute (PPI) consisting of 15 institutional investors from the United States, Europe, and Canada, including the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System (LACERS), and San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System (SFERS), which have a total of USD350 billion (approx. THB11.00 trillion) in assets under management. The executives met with SET executives on November 2 to discuss and exchange viewpoints about Thailand’s economic and financial development, listed companies’ operating performance, the Thai Capital Market Development Plan, and enabling intra-ASEAN cross border trading (the ASEAN Linkage Project), said SET Chief Strategy Officer & Executive Director Capital Market Research Institute Veerathai Santiprabhob. “This was a good opportunity for SET executives to communicate with and build the confidence of foreign investors, particularly in SET, listed firms’ corporate governance, latest listed companies’ operating performance, and measures under the Thai Capital Market Development Plan that will help increase the Thai market’s competitiveness,” concluded “We were impressed with the efforts and interest on the part of SET to engage in a meaningful way with other exchanges within ASEAN. One intended outcome is obviously a more competitive region in the global marketplace,” said PPI Chief Executive Officer Dr. Masha Vande Berg.
