Bangkok--1 Dec--Standard & Poor's The number of issuers poised for upgrades increased by eight this month to a total of 195 issuers globally, said an article published Wednesday, November 25, 2009 by Standard & Poor's, titled "Upgrade Potential Across Credit Grades And Sectors (Premium)." "Although the current tally of 195 global potential upgrades is 34 fewer than the total a year ago, upgrade potential has gained some ground since September, when the tally exceeded the trailing-12-month average for the first time in nearly two years," said Diane Vazza, head of Standard & Poor's Global Fixed Income Research Group. Potential upgrades are defined as issuers that have either a positive outlook or ratings on CreditWatch with positive implications across rating categories 'AA+' to 'B-'. Since our previous report, 17 issuers have been added to the list and nine have been removed. All of the companies added this month are the result of a favorable revision to their CreditWatch or outlook status without an accompanying upgrade. Of the nine issuers removed from the list, four were eliminated because Standard & Poor's upgraded the companies and assigned stable outlooks, three were removed because Standard & Poor's revised its CreditWatch or outlook status on the companies, and two are no longer rated by Standard & Poor's.
