The Home Builder Association is positive about the purchasing power in 2010 after reaping over 430 million Baht from Home Builder Focus 2010.
The Home Builder Association is positive that the home building market is still strong after seeing high purchasing power in Home Builder Focus 2010. From on-site sales of over 430 million Baht and combined credit applications of over 1.4 billion Baht reported by participating financial institutions, 1 — 2.5 million Baht range home is the most popular product, while average selling price on-site is 4.2 million Baht.
Mr. Vibul Chantradilokrat, President of the Home Builder Association, reviews results from the Home Builder Focus 2010 held during February 26-28, 2010 at the Bangkok Convention Center, Central Plaza Lardpro today that the event could achieve on-site sales of over 430 million Baht, which is in line with the Association’s initial projection of 450 — 500 million Baht. 2.5 million Baht home or less received most interest from the consumers at 42% of combined sales, while 5 — 10 million Baht home and 2.5 — 5 million Baht home rank 2nd and 3rd at 28% and 27% respectively and the rest goes to 10 — 20 million Baht range home.
In addition, it is found that the average selling price per unit is at 4.2 million Baht, while the event played host to approximately 7,000 visitors throughout the period. The figure is down YoY as there was a Constitutional Court reading on ex-Prime Minister Taksin’s case on February 26, after which the number of visitors considerably increased. It should be noted that a large number of visitors was seen on February 28, when on-site sale of 200 million Baht could be made.
“Though the number of visitors did decrease YoY, it was also found that most visitors came with a purpose. This was seen from an overwhelming number of visitor registrations made via the Association’s web site, which could generate a sale of over 20 million Baht from a mere 200 registrations. In the future, the Association will further develop our web site as an important channel to reach out more to the consumers.” Mr. Vibul said.
He further added that it was expected that there would be an uptrend in the overall home building market in 2010, as it was found from a research conducted with visitors on site of the Home Builder Focus 2010 that the home building demand in 2011 — 2012 could be as high as 56% , while homes at the price range of 2 — 5 million Baht would receive most interest. In the meantime, the Association would press on with its policy to foster consumers’ confidence and, especially, to set up of good service standards among its members so that it could achieve 10% market growth or a combined home building market value of 12 billion Baht in 2010.
