Bangkok--15 Jun--VivaldiPR Returning to Singapore after an absence of 7 years, Glasstech Asia 2010 is the first glass exhibition to be staged at Asia’s most awaited iconic business and entertainment venue, Marina Bay Sands, from 29 June - 01 July 2010. The event plays host to almost 150 exhibitors from around 30 countries and stages country pavilions for Germany, Italy, China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UK. For the first time, Glasstech Asia features a new pavilion called the Green Technology Showcase. It will be a pavilion entirely dedicated to presenting products in the industry that practice green technology and processes. Given the growing momentum of gearing to the “green” movement, the Green Technology Showcase provides the perfect opportunity and platform to show the involvement of various glass companies in this sector. Singapore serves as an ideal platform to present the importance of green processes and technology in this industry. Singapore is fully embracing the idea of sustainable facility management. Sustainable developments are seen everywhere and is further increasing as a result of the target set by the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Sustainable Development (IMCSD), to have 80% of the buildings in Singapore attain at least a Green Mark Certified rating by 2030.1 The Singapore Government is highly active in this aspect; implementing the Solar Capability Scheme (SCS) to encourage innovative design and integration of solar panels into buildings. HDB, as one of the largest developers in the country, will embark on an island-wide test-bed of solar technology within public housing estates.2 It is looking at Punggol, Bukit Panjang, Tanjong Pagar and Marine Parade to introduce its solar system. Punggol is already home to HDB’s first green housing project called Treelodge@Punggol. Furthermore, a waterway that features green landscapes will be built at Punggol to bring nature closer to the residents.3 1. http://www.bca.gov.sg/Newsroom/others/pr22042010_BCAA_IFMA.pdf 2. http://app.mewr.gov.sg/web/Contents/ContentsSSS.aspx?ContId=1298 3. http://wildsingaporenews.blogspot.com/2010/01/punggol-to-get-green-makeover.html Moreover, this movement can be seen in some major developments such as the Changi Airport Terminal 3 (T3), ION Orchard and The Orchard Residences. T3’s most outstanding feature is its “butterfly” roof architectural design that allows natural light to enter the building while keeping tropical heat out. Furthermore, it adds an exciting new concept of a vertical garden called “The Green Wall”.4 Another iconic structure incorporating the green practice is ION Orchard. Stemming from the external curvilinear form of glass and metal fa็ade to the inner atrium pattern and tessellation, ION Orchard oozes with the texture and form of nature. Moreover, other green elements found are the lush landscaping, deep planter boxes, water features, rain sensors and a vertical green wall system. Most of all, photocell sensors within ION Orchard reduce lighting levels when not required.5 This project has received awards for its green credentials including BCA Green Mark Gold certificate from Singapore’s Building Construction Authority.6 Glass is an intrinsic part in the building and construction industry and it is moving smoothly into greener and more environmentally friendly ways as evidenced in the aforementioned structures. In addition, a main exhibitor, China Southern Glass Holdings, in Glasstech Asia 2010 is the supplier of the glass materials used at ION Orchard and The Orchard Residences. With the vast improvement and increasing acceptance of innovative solar and glass technology products, exhibitors are looking forward to acquiring beneficial information during the event. “The glass industry is an ever-burgeoning sector that provides opportunities for growth and advancement. Given the positive economic outlook in the building and construction industry, Glasstech Asia provides a perfect avenue for industry key players and new entrants to gather and mingle,” Mr. Gan Chee Siong, Chairman of the Singapore Glass Association shared. “Being the only glass technology exhibition in Southeast Asia, Glasstech Asia returns with the promise of being a formidable platform of new business exchanges and a showcase for state-of-the-art glass products and technology for aspiring industry players, exhibitors and visitors,” said Mr. Edward Liu, Managing Director of CEMS, co-organizer of the event. “The global economic outlook today makes attendance to Glasstech Asia 2010 most productive as glass industry players in the world see Asia as one sustainable solution to develop new engines for growth,” Mr. Liu added. 4. http://www.worldarchitecturenews.com/index.php?fuseaction=wanappln.projectview&upload_id=1861 5. http://trendsideas.com/ViewArticle.aspx?article=13323®ion=4&book=652 6. http://www.worldarchitecturenews.com/index.php?fuseaction=wanappln.projectview&upload_id=11570 PILLARS, 2010 Issue 1, Building and Construction Authority, page 1 - 3 For further information please contact: Nuannang Changadveja Senior PR Consultant Vivaldi Public Relations Office: +66 2 612 2253 ext 107 Fax: +66 2 612 2254 Email: [email protected] Website: www.vivaldipr.com สอบถามข้อมูลเพิ่มเติม โทร. 02 612 2253 VivaldiPR
