ตามที่ได้มีรายงานความเสียหายของพายุไซโคลน Evan ที่พัดผ่านฟิจิเมื่อวันที่ ๑๗ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๕ ทำให้เกิดน้ำท่วมฉบับพลันและสร้างความเสียหายอย่างรุนแรงทั่วฟิจิ นั้น
ในการนี้ นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนายกรัฐมนตรีฟิจิ และนายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศฟิจิ ดังนี้
