A new Artist in Residence project inspired by the colours, rhythm and creative spirit of Hua Hin
NH Hua Hin welcomes Brazilian contemporary visual artist Marcus Paschoalin for an Artist in Residence project that brings together art, travel, architecture and the distinctive character of Hua Hin.
With more than 30 years of artistic experience, Marcus began painting at the age of 14. His distinctive visual language has evolved around geometry, repetition, rhythm, colour and optical effects, creating works that invite viewers to experience movement and perception in unexpected ways.
His creative journey extends far beyond the traditional studio. With experience spanning advertising, business administration, design and creative direction, Marcus has worked across entertainment, events and communication. These diverse experiences have shaped an artistic approach that connects his work with architecture, space, music, human behaviour and lived experiences.
"At NH Hua Hin, we believe that travel becomes more meaningful when guests have the opportunity to connect with the destination in unexpected ways. Marcus brings a fresh artistic perspective to Hua Hin, transforming the colours, culture and character of our surroundings into something guests can experience through art. We are delighted to welcome him and to be part of a creative journey that celebrates both the destination and the stories it inspires." Khun Nartsupak Thaweewong, General Manager, NH Hua Hin
Taking the Studio Around the World
In 2026, Marcus began a new chapter by embarking on an extended journey across Asia with his family. Rather than simply travelling from one destination to another, he chose to make the journey itself part of his artistic practice.
Through a series of Artist in Residence collaborations with hotels and resorts, Marcus transforms each destination into a temporary studio. His artworks are created during his stay, drawing inspiration from the colours, atmosphere, architecture and experiences unique to each place.
Each residency therefore becomes more than an exhibition or art project. It becomes a visual record of the destination interpreted through Marcus's own artistic language.
Inspired by Hua Hin
At NH Hua Hin, Marcus's residency becomes an opportunity to explore the character of Hua Hin through his own perspective.
Known for its connection between sea, nature, architecture, local culture and a growing creative community, Hua Hin provides a rich environment for artistic exploration. During his residency, Marcus will work within the hotel environment, allowing the surroundings and his experiences in Hua Hin to influence the development of his artworks.
"Every destination leaves something behind in my work. In Hua Hin, I'm inspired by the rhythm of the sea, the colours, the architecture and the energy of local life. Through this residency at NH Hua Hin, I want to transform those experiences into a visual memory of the destination, seen and felt through my own artistic language." Marcus Paschoalin
The project will culminate in a collection inspired by Hua Hin and the experiences of the artist during his stay, creating a meeting point between his Brazilian artistic identity and the visual character of Thailand.
Connecting Art, Place and Experience
For NH Hua Hin, the collaboration reflects the hotel's commitment to creating experiences that connect guests and the local community with art, creativity and culture.
Marcus's travelling studio offers a different way of experiencing a destination not simply through what we see, but through how a place can influence creativity, perception and memory.
His residency at NH Hua Hin becomes another chapter in an ongoing artistic journey: an artist taking his studio around the world and allowing every destination to leave its mark on the work.
